A Weekend Haul

Friday, November 14, 2014

Do you ever pop in to a shop, intending to get one or two items and end up coming out with about ten instead? Yes, I'll hold my hands up and say that this happened to me the other weekend and seeing as I picked up a few nice items, I thought I'd share the aftermath of my shopping trip with you.

My adventure in to town took me to Superdrug first, after big "3 for 2" promotion signs beckoned. I had to pick up a couple of everyday products that I was running low on and decided to make the most of the offer - naturally - and purchased some much-wanted products too.

By the time this post goes up, you may have already seen my 'Weekday Makeup Routine' so I won't go in to too much detail here. I replaced my L'Oreal's True Match Foundation in 'Rose Beige', Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer in shade 20 and Rimmel's Bronzer in shade 22 'Sun Bronze'.

The items in my 'want list' were Maybelline's Color Drama Lip Pencil in 'Light It Up', Barry M Nail Paint in 'Vintage Violet', Maybelline's Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in 'Pink Gold' and Colab 'Paris' Dry Shampoo. I'll be doing full reviews over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for those. I also wanted to get Blake's Red from L'Oreals new range but it was out of stock. I checked the shelves of Boots too and still couldn't find it! My hunt for that gorgeous lipstick is still on and you lovely lot shall be first to know when I finally get my hands on it!

I then found myself in Primark and surprisinly only came out with a small bag - a rare occurrence when visiting Primarni! I picked up a lovely plum scoop-neck t-shirt which is an easy wearing top. I am usually a size 8 and this hugs my figure perfectly, though I am thinking of also getting a size bigger to get the baggy-tee look. I also bought a gorgeous pink batwing jumper; a style I have never gone for as it usually ends up drowning me and looking terrible. But this one doesn't - hurrah! It makes for a casual but flattering look. It's super soft too!

The last two items bought in Primark took me by surprise in store: two nail varnishes. Who knew that Primark had a cosmetics section?! I don't tend to look around the accessory section but I was checking out some scarves when the beauty stand caught my eye. I was in awe! Granted, most of it is very cheap so the quality probably isn't great but at £1 a bottle, you can't complain! I purchased a lovely pink and gorgeous glittery black which will appear in my 'Nails of the Week' posts in the future for sure. I can't wait to try them out and maybe even broadening my Primark Cosmetic horizons in the future!

On the way back to my car, I decided to make a quick detour in to a little card shop called 'Smart Ideas' after noticing they had a candle sale. Something you should know about me is that I am a growing Yankee Candle addict. I love them and love trying new ones. When I get my own place I have a feeling it'll turn in to some kind of Yankee Candle heaven...but I digress. The sale was only on particular scents and after whiffing away like a blood hound, I settled on 'Snowflake Cookie'. It's very sweet and smells just like Butterscoth Angel Delight - which is bloomin' delicious in my opinion!

This last purchase wasn't from my shopping trip, however, I did order it off Amazon on the same weekend after year's of wanting one: a faux fur blanket (featured in all of these photos). I have always adored and wanted one but never really thought about it enough to purchase one but with winter approaching and me being forever cold, I thought that now was the time. For £11, this blanket is fab. It's soft, fluffy and so warm. though trying to keep my cat from pawing at it is appearing to be a rather arduous task so far! It's an absolute bargain and I can't believe it's taken so long for one to be in my life and on my bed.

Have you tried any of the above out or managed to get your hands on any recent bargains? Hope you have a lovely weekend!

    1. Let me know if you pick either up! I've been writing full reviews on both which will be going up over the next few weeks, though I will say that the Colab Dry Shampoo wasn't quite what I expected.

  3. Beautiful choices Amy. I love those polishes. They're great colors for fall and winter. Yankee Candles are amazing aren't they? I've been hooked on them for many years. Stay warm with your blanket! There's nothing warmer or cozier. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Haha, I always come out with so much more than I was intending on buying!
I have only had a little sniff of snowflake cookie and wasn't sure if it would be far too sweet - is it ok when it's burning?

    1. Glad to hear I'm not the only one ;)
It is quite sweet when burning, I have to blow it out after a while as it can become overpowering. But it gives off such a lovely smell that it's worth it :)
