NYX Butter Lipstick Review

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

The more I am getting in to the beauty world, the more I'm realising that specific seasons call for specific colours and for me, Autumn = berry and burgundy items. This year, I've been becoming more and more comfortable with shades that I would never have been before - great for self-confidence boosting, not so great for my bank when I'm buying new colours!

This Autumn has seen a beautiful berry lipstick enter my collection and  I have been wearing it so often that it even appeared in my September Favourites.

Of course, I'm talking about NYX's Butter Lipstick in the shade 'Hunk'.

I'll start with the packaging and I cannot for the life of me decide whether I like it. I like the colour of the tube, I like the clear plastic middle and I like the fact that the lid clicks so I know it's secure. However, it does also look a little plasticy and cheap. Not that it matters too much as the colour is just...gorgeous!

It's a rich berry shade that is glossy when first applied and then stains to a lovely matte, deep pink. Incredibly wearable and perfect for the fall, especially when paired up with cosy jumpers and scarves. I've never owned a berry shade before but I think this is a good one to start with.

The end of the stick is slightly curved to aid in application but the formula is a bit of a strange one. It's quite oily and feels very slick when on the lips but is also thin in consistency, so it takes a few sweeps to get the desired opacity. The deep berry colour also doesn't last terribly long before showing the stained pink I mentioned. All a bit...strange. But you know what? It works and it's not exactly a bad thing.

Overall, I loved this lipstick; it's had a lot of use and it's safe to say it'll become a staple next fall too.

Have you tried any of NYX's Butter Lipstick range?
