Nails of the Week #18

Sunday, November 30, 2014

When searching through the ol' varnish boxes last Sunday, I was being drawn to the nudes and decided to give a recent addition to my collection a go.

I picked up Maybelline's Color Show Nail Polish in 'Love This Sweater' during a trip to Tesco, when I was  in need of a "pick me up" after getting some medication for conjunctivitis - these winter illnesses seem to be never ending this year! So along side an Innocent Smoothie, an almond croissant and a steal of an eye shadow - Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in 'Bad Bronze'; reduced from £4.49 to £1.19, bargain! - this varnish ended up in the basket.

The colour is lovely and very similar to that of 'Latte' (just a smidge darker); a warm nude that has pink undertones. Two coats achieved the desired look but one coat would give a nice opaque wash of colour.

As previously mentioned before, the formula isn't bad, especially for the price. A few chips appeared during the week but touch-up was minimal to be honest.

The one bad thing about Color Show varnishes is the fact that the brushes vary from bottle to bottle. This one has a small, flat ended one which I am never fond of. If they all had the nice round brush that I found with 'Coral Craze', then I'd be a happy bunny every time. But unfortunately, the bog standard brush scars my opinion on them to be honest.

That being said, it is a great addition to my stash and one that I thoroughly enjoyed wearing.
