'Meet Me at the Cupcake Café' by Jenny Colgan Review

Come and meet Issy Randall, proud owner of The Cupcake Café.
Issy Randall can bake. No, more than that - Issy can create stunning, mouth-wateringly divine cakes. After a childhood spent in her beloved Grampa Joe's bakery, she has undoubtedly inherited his talent.
When she's made redundant from her safe but dull City job, Issy decides to seize the moment. Armed with recipes from Grampa, and with her best friends and local bank manager fighting her corner, The Cupcake Café opens its doors. But Issy has absolutely no idea what she's let herself in for. It will take all her courage - and confectionery - to avert disaster . . .
After reading quite a few thrillers/murder mysteries so far this year, I felt like going for something a little 'easier' and more 'girly' to read; then 'Meet Me at the Cupcake Café' by Jenny Colgan caught my eye - I mean, the cover is pink and has cakes on it, for god's sake!
The story follows Issy, who has been recently been made redundant, as she tries to start up and maintain as café but is tested along the way by love, family and friends. It's a feel-good, funny and heart-warming tale that has you really routing for Issy to succeed!
It wasn't hard to like Issy as a character, nor was it surprising when I found myself completely caught up in her - and those surrounding her - story. I also love that different recipes were sprinkled among the pages and all of them sound utterly delicious!
'Meet Me at the Cupcake Café' is one of those books that will instantly leave you feeling lovely and gooey inside, plus it'll have you pining for all sorts of baked goods throughout!
