Love Me Beauty August Box Review

Sunday, September 07, 2014

Another month and another Love Me Beauty box has arrived on my doorstep!

You probably get the gist by now if you've read any of my previous box reviews (see relating posts here), but if you haven't, Love Me Beauty is an ever-growing beauty box subscription company where you choose your box from three menus. I thought the options this month weren't brilliant if I am honest; all contained a lip pencil colour, an eyebrow pencil, a mineral eye shadow and one other product. For starters, I wasn't too happy to see that there would only be 4 products in the box and I thought the products themselves weren't too thrilling.

Due to the bank holiday weekend, my box turned up a little later than expected and was partly crushed. After the disappointing menus, this wasn't a good start. However, on opening the box, I was utterly and pleasantly surprised. I had opted for Menu 3 and not only did I have four full size products, but there was an extra product too and most of them were in their own little box! It looked much better and more professional than I expected already so my disappointments completely melted away!

First up was Oriflame's Swedish Spa Beauty Wonder Oil. Now if you follow my Intsagram, you'll probably have guessed by now that I'm partial to a nice, long soak in the tub. This product was the reason I went for Menu 3 and it's lovely! It has a really nice scent - I thought about describing it, but it's too hard so I'm not even going to try, just know it smells good - and made my bath so much more relaxing. I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it! The RRP for this is £8.45.

Next was Mirabella's Lip Luster Liner in 'Shy'. I'm not one for lip lining. I've never quite got the hang of it nor seen much need for it, therefore I'm not entirely how much I will use this. The colour is a really pretty, dusky pink and I have a few lipsticks I can pair it with; I'm just not sure it's the product for me. It's times like this where YouTube becomes my saviour because after I've written this post, I'm off to watch some tutorials videos to see if they might help - I'll keep you updated! This liner costs $18, which works out at around £11.

A La Carte's Smudge Proof Eyebrow Definer in 'Blonde' was next and this was the most disappointing product of the box. If you read my previous LMB Box review, you'll know that I'm an eyebrow makeup newb and am still experimenting with different products to find the one to suit me. This is definitely not it. I found the formula too watery and too thin and the shade was not a good match for me at all. It does say that it can also be used as an eyeliner so will give it a go for that one day, but for now, I think it's going to sitting in my drawer for a while. The RRP is £23.

The last item I expected to receive was Marsk's Mineral Eye Shadow in the shade 'Lucky Penny'. I definitely have a soft spot for eye shadows, meaning that getting another one was definitely a good thing. The colour is gorgeous; a lovely warm bronze, though it is a bit too glittery for everyday use. As it's a mineral powder eye shadow, the pigmentation is fantastic and is nice and long-lasting, definitely a good product to use for a nice occasion! This usually costs around £14.49.

The surprise item to appear in my box was Weleda's Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream and what a nice product it is! It has a strong but lovely citrus scent and is incredibly moisturising, leaving my hands feeling super-soft after use. The other great thing about this hand cream was that the soft feeling lasted for ages! This was the only sample received, which I thought was excellent. The full size product, 50ml, costs £9.95, which gives this sample size, 10ml, a value of roughly £1.99.

Overall, despite the disappointing start and one disappointing product, this box was another great one! I am particularly impressed that I only received one sample size product, which was a additional item anyway. The total value of this box was £58.93, which is fantastic value when you think about it.
