Nails of the Week #24

Sunday, January 11, 2015

Despite the festive season being over, I still wasn't ready to give up on having fancier and sparklier nails and after a little inspiration from an old old post of Anna's, I decided to do a little 'dot-to-dot' design for the first full week of 2015. And do you know what? I've really enjoyed wearing it!

Anna went for a nude and gold, whereas I was feeling a grey and silver combo. I used 'Chai' from Barry M's Gelly Nail Effect range for the base and an unnamed sparkly silver from Maybelline's Gemey Paris Range - which came as part of  present for Christmas, thanks Mel, Joe and Willow! - for the silver dot, using a hair pin that had been bent out of place.

I've got to admit, doing the dot was pretty hard, so much so I had to re-do about five! But once I'd got it about right, let them dry and added the top coat, I was rather pleased with the result.

As always, Barry M polishes impress me massively and the Gelly range especially as they have such incredible formula and last all week with no chips. The colour of 'Chai' is a nice one too, a dark grey which gave a nice change from the brighter or bolder colours of the past few weeks, it even suited the dull and dreary weather we were having at the start of the week!

The Maybelline polish was also a great one to wear and I think it'd be a lovely one worn on it's own too, so keep an eye out for future 'Nail of the Week' posts for that one. It's an easy wearing polish, being light-silver in colour and the little glitter particles being super fine. It also added a splash of brightness in contrast to the darker grey of 'Chai'.

The cute 'dot-to-dot' look was a pleasure to wear and even though this style was first around at the beginning of 2013, it still received plenty of compliments this week and I would happily wear it again.

What's on your nails this week?
