December Favourites

Saturday, January 03, 2015

Christmas is over - boo! - but December was a busy month full of lots of exciting new discoveries, as well as, a couple of old and ongoing loves thrown in too.

The first item on my 'favourites' list for the month was NARS Creamy Concealer. I've been raving about this since I purchased it at the end of November, so it's no surprise it's in here. The shade 'Vanilla' is the perfect match for me and the product itself is just...wow. I get bad acne and this stuff gives amazing coverage for them and it lasts on the skin for ages too. It's my dream concealer and a new daily staple.

Another new find was Tanya Burr's Lip Glosses and in particular, the shade 'Chic'. This beautiful gloss graced my lips throughout most of December with it's soft nude colour and shiny-but-not-sticky formula that lasts on the lips longer than most glosses do. It was a great one to wear when I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to wear too much makeup, but honestly? This lip gloss finishes off any look I'm going for.

TheBalm's NUDE 'Tude Eye Shadow Palette, purchased from Birchbox's online shop, was another new love for the festive month and boy, have I been addicted to it. With it's range of neutral shades that are highly pigmented, easy to apply and are long-lasting, it's no shock that it's quickly become my favourite eye shadow palette. The slight down side to it is that the shadows are a little dusty but this is easily counteracted by making sure I tap the brush before application, to get rid of loose product. It is such a fabulous palette, that I'm sure will continue to top my personal eye shadow chart!

My next winter find and new favourite came from DKNY and that's the 'Red Delicious' Fragrance. You can read my full thoughts on this gorgeous fragrance here, but to sum up: it's a fruity, sweet scent that has good lasting power and different notes throughout the day. I've been spritzing it throughout most of the month and think it'd be a lovely one to have during the summer too.

On to something that isn't as new and that's the Lord & Berry Smudgeproof Eyeliners in '#704 Black' and '#720 Sand'. I got these two from previous Love Me Beauty boxes (here and here) and have been using them ever since. They give good colour payoff, last for endless hours and have really helped me to get back in to wearing eyeliner again. I especially love 'Sand' as a thin line on the lid, especially when paired with a soft-coloured shadow or on it's own and I like to wear 'Black' on the top waterline (below my top lashes) as it helps to define my eyes.

The next two items are both non-beauty but still became faves throughout the month. First off, I got addicted to 'Pretty Little Liars' - seriously, Netflix is such a babe - at the end of November and managed to watch all four seasons that were available in a matter of a few weeks. I told you, I got addicted! It is so good. The plot is brilliant, with it's constant twists, turns and shockers that keep you hooked from one episode to the next and I like that it is a witty, US 'teen drama' that can be incredibly dark. I also got major hair, makeup and outfit envy from the four main characters, they're styles are to die for! If you want to watch a new series that is gripping, shocking, a bit of fun and addictive, then I implore you to give 'Pretty Little Liars' a go!

Lastly, we come to a scarf. Well, a snood in fact. I have mentioned about my adoration for scarves so I'm sure you'll be seeing more of my collection as the cold months go by. But for December, this snood from Primark was draped round my neck more often than not and it's gorgeous. It's colour is lovely and can be paired up with most outfits, plus it's so snug and warm! It was only £4, I think, which is an absolute bargain and completely worth the purchase!

There you have it ladies and gents, my December Favourites. I trust you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Let's see what 2015 is going to bring us!
