Love Me Beauty October Box Review

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

Despite my ranting in earlier's post, I decided to give Love Me Beauty and their new arrangements another chance and with this month's box, I'm awfully glad I did!

If you didn't catch my previous post, I was talking about my not-so-great experience of LMB's new set-up and I'll admit, I am still not overly impressed with the whole thing.

Instead of picking from three menus, you now get 6 credits and get to create your own box. Items are worth either 1 or 2 credits which means that your box fills up pretty quick before you run out of the credits. You do have the option to add other items but at an extra cost to yourself. After the hiccups last month, I was prepared to be disappointed by the choices in the Boutique but I was pleasantly surprised! I was able to choose four items pretty quickly and I was really excited to be receiving them!

I, again, really love the new boxes and bags. The boxes are sturdy and will make great storage boxes and the bags will be great for travelling. Big thumbs up to the packaging! I still think it's a shame that there are no information cards anymore as they can be incredibly useful, especially when trying new products.

I went for an all-cosmetic themed box this month and I was astonished by how much I adore them all.

I first chose two shades from Headline Colors Nail Varnish; Firewater (a gorgeous red wine colour) and Centrefold (a pretty nude). Expect to see them in my Nails of the Week posts soon!

I then fancied a new lipstick to try - not that I don't have enough already or anything! - so went for Mirabella's Pretty and Provocative Lipstick in 'Fever'. It is a beautiful red that I can see will get a lot of wear during the colder months. The pigmentation is fantastic, giving strong colour transfer and the formula feels soft and easy to apply. The longevity was pretty impressive too, lasting a good few hours before having to be reapplied. It disappeared quicker after eating and drinking, as expected, but nonetheless, a very decent lipstick.

Finally, I opted to try out Lord & Berry's Smudge Proof Eyeliner in shade #720 'Sand'. I'd had my eye on this for quite a while so when I saw it in the Boutique, straight in to the box it went. The colour is a soft brown that will really emphasise my eyes, especially when going for a bronze look. One thing I was skeptical on was the "smudge proof" bit; usually when companies put that on the product it means "it'll last for a while but eventually disappear or lose colour". But when Lord & Berry say "smudge proof", they mean smudge proof. This stuff doesn't go anywhere! It lasts for hours with no colour loss or smudging, it's amazing. The formula is also creamy thus easy to apply. I will definitely be looking in to getting more colours from the range.

I loved the products in this month's box, however, I do feel it lacks a little substance and character. I feel that LMB could add in a couple of free samples or some lifestyle extras to bulk up the contents a bit; the value for money factor seems to be missing. I would like to see what next month offers, but I'm entirely sure I'll be sticking with this company anymore.
